The Sanctuary is a small pet hotel in the heart of Stafford. We know finding a suitable place for your pets to stay can be difficult. Believe us, we've been there! 10 years ago the only place we could find to care for our rabbit Ninja was 15 miles away! We also always struggled to convince friends and relatives to care for our hamsters before that. We decided that Stafford needed a small pet hotel, so here we are!

Your pet's welfare is paramount to us. In addition to unlimited hay and daily fresh veg and water changes, we also ensure your pet's room is clean. All pets get to have time outside of their room in either our predator-proofed outdoor hutch or on the sanitised playroom floor. In the winter, we ensure your pets are cosy using central heating and in the summer we treat them to an air-conditioned environment. No one wants grumpy, hot pets!

No. If you would prefer, we can ensure your pet stays and plays inside. Whatever you decide, your pet will definitely be out of their hutch on a daily basis. In the colder months, all pets play inside. 

Our hutches are in a specially adapted room in our home so benefit from having people (us!) around all day long. This enables us to keep a close eye on your pets as well as talk and interact with them more often than if they were in a converted shed or outbuilding. This means we can also monitor the temperature constantly, and adjust accordingly, in addition to monitoring food and water levels. Furthermore, the room benefits from 24/7 CCTV. 

Bring your pet to us, along with their dry kibble and we'll take care of the rest! Once arrived, we will confirm details with you before you go. Once you leave, your pet will be settled into their holiday hutch with everything they need. If you like, you can bring their favourite toy or comfort item for them to use during their stay.  

The day you bring your pet to us can be a little stressful for them. That is why on day 1 they remain in their holiday hutch. This is only because your pet will have travelled to us and may be experiencing a little anxiety due to the journey and new environment. We let them adjust to their holiday home on day 1 before commencing exercise/playtime sessions day 2 onwards. Don't worry though, they'll get plenty of fuss still!

Your pet will be ready for you to pick up on collection day. We will give you a quick overview of their stay and how they have been before you make your way home, but you'll know how they've been throughout their stay anyway from our update texts!

In the unfortunate event your pet gets ill while you are away we will follow your instructions on how you would like us to handle it. Some people are happy for us to take them to our local Vet (Vets 4 Pets, Stafford) while some prefer they use their registered Vet. Some people want to know if their pet is ill, some prefer not to (as they can't do anything while they're away). We will take your lead but rest assured, your pet will be cared for. 

Absolutely not. The beauty of our boarding facility is that it's in our home, there is always someone around! During daytime hours we play calming music quietly to help your pet relax and playtime allows them to explore new areas and smells, reducing chaces of boredom. 

In our quieter 'wheeks' our resident Guinea Pigs, Teddy and Dough, move into the holiday hutches to keep any guests in the room company. 

Yes! We are fully insured. Documents can be seen upon request.
