The Sanctuary - About Us!

Hi, I'm Steph! I run a small and friendly pet boarding facility from my home in Stafford. 

Pets have always been an important part of my life. Growing up, I had a rabbit, hamsters and two guinea pigs (as well as a dog!). Taking care of my pets was my own responsibility so I started learning about pet care from a very young age! Since then, I have continued to have pets in my life and have had more hamsters, a rabbit, two guinea pigs and two dogs. I consider myself blessed to have had my Netherland Dwarf bunny 'Ninja' with us for 10 years and my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel dog 'Cookie' in our lives for 12 years. Currently, we have two boars (guinea pigs), 'Dough and Teddy' and a dog, 'Poppy'. Poppy is a lab-whippet cross we rescued as a puppy from a kennels in Stoke almost 14 years ago now! Along each stage of all their lives, I have ensured they are as happy and as healthy as can be. You can see pictures of my pets below!

Prior to setting up The Sanctuary, I was an English Teacher at a secondary school in Staffordshire. As much as I loved my job, it didn't allow me to be at home as much as I would have liked - for my family and pets. Having struggled to find a pet hotel for our rabbit, Ninja, over the past decade and FINALLY having the space to set one up, I decided it was time for a change! The Sanctuary was born. I ensured it was created to what I would be happy with for my own pets to stay in. Spacious, airy, clean. The beauty of having it indoors also means I can constantly check on my guests and interact with them often!
